I have been teaching clarinet since 2015, when I began working during my graduate studies as a “Teaching Artist” for the Music in Schools Initiative of the Yale School of Music and New Haven Public Schools. For two years, I assisted elementary, middle and high school music teachers in class, in sectionals, and in supplementary private lessons for their students, while leading sectionals for the All-City Honors Band on weekends. I taught more sporadically over the next several years as I moved from New Haven to Toronto, Los Angeles, Montreal, Miami and Halifax, first for my studies, and then with my wife as she won positions with first the New World Symphony, then Symphony Nova Scotia. I took the opportunity to begin establishing a private studio when I moved to Saskatoon last year to assume the position of principal clarinetist with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. Over the past academic year, I taught two weekly half-hour students, beginner level, one biweekly full-hour student, high school level, and additional full-hour lessons for two undergraduate-level students preparing for a concerto performance and an audition, respectively. I also gave coachings to an undergraduate-level woodwind quintet at the University of Saskatchewan School for the Arts and led woodwind sectionals for the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra
