2024 Summer Music Camp Award Winners
The Saskatchewan Registered Music Teachers’ Association Summer Music Camp Award was established to provide financial assistance to music students who wish to attend a music camp or virtual music camp during the summer of the competition year.

Elena Bell attended Hills are Alive Music and Dance Cultural Fest.
Report:
I really appreciate being chosen for this award from the Hills are Alive Music Camp. I really enjoyed the event, I hope to attend next year with my family. This was my second year attending, and I found it to be a very rewarding experience. I have been playing the violin for 3 years. This year I was in Lucas’s group and it was lots of fun. I enjoyed the songs he taught us.
Some the other things I really enjoyed was the bannock over the fire at the amphitheatre (the bannock was pretty good and I had lots of fun cooking it!), walking around and looking at the land. The place was beautiful and I loved it. I also enjoyed the dances. My friends and I danced them every night and it was lots of fun.

Enna Ometlic attended the Saskatchewan Band Association, Band Camp.
Report:
I attended the band camp located in Saskatoon, and it was split into three bands, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior. I was placed in the senior band, and in our schedule we had full band rehearsals where we practiced four songs, we had two private lessons with an instructor for our instrument, we had sectionals, and we had the option between multiple different ensembles in which I chose to do the Jazz ensemble. When we were not playing our instruments, we had one masterclass everyday, an hour of rec time, and a choice between two different music classes.
I learned a lot from every activity. During the full band rehearsals I got to learn how to use a few different percussion instruments that I had never used before, during sectionals I was able to learn proper technique for certain auxiliary instruments, in the private lessons I got to learn more advanced percussion skills such as using double mallets, and in Jazz ensemble I had the chance to practice my improv. The masterclasses taught me some interesting facts about tuning and improv, the music classes taught me about composition, and rec time was a great way for me to socialize with the other band players. Overall, I learned a lot from camp and had lots of fun.
