Report:
Summer Sizzle was one of the greatest musical experiences I have yet had in my life! It combined both performance and learning to the benefit and enjoyment of the student. The highlights for me: meeting Christopher Norton and the other composers in attendance and having the opportunity to create a composition with him and the group I was a part of; meeting other students, both older and younger, who enjoy and pursue music just as much as me; learning an interesting new technique for playing seventh chords in lead sheets; having the opportunity to play handbells with an enthusiastic and skilled teacher; and performing several pieces for their composers. This experience has encouraged me to continue pursuing music and all that can be learned about and through the playing and composing of music on one’s own and alongside other musicians.

Report:
Thank you, SRMTA, for the Summer Music Camp Award. I went to Summer Sizzle in Biggar. I like the time with the handbells the best. The bells were a little loud but they sounded cool. My group played a piece by Mrs. Sawatsky. Our handbell leader, Mr. Braybrook said the piece was tricky and then pretended to be scared when Mrs. Sawatsky came into the room. He was pretty funny. Mrs. Sawatsky also helped my group write and perform a composition that involved us all working together. I also liked the food at snack time. I had thirds of almost everything. Thanks to all the people who organized the event.
